Boaters should also take note: a Small Craft Advisory is posted for portions of the coastal waters, where seas could reach 3 to 5 feet and visibility may drop in fog and showers, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday brings a noticeable improvement, though morning fog could hang on before 9 a.m. Skies should turn partly sunny with a high near 79°F and only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms, a much more manageable setup than Thursday's soggy stretch.
Saturday looks like the weekend standout, with partly sunny skies and a high near 84°F. Sunday should stay warm around 83°F, but a slight chance of showers arrives after 4 p.m., followed by a better chance of rain Sunday night and into Monday.

Monday remains unsettled, with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 81°F. The forecast then dries out sharply, with sunny skies and highs near 81°F Tuesday and 83°F Wednesday.
The latest update is a wetter near-term turn than the earlier Boston outlook from Hoodline, but the broader pattern still offers a clear payoff: one more damp day, then a run of classic New England summer weather.
