A quiet stretch of Broadway Street in southeast Houston turned into a crime scene early Friday after police found a man fatally shot in the roadway.
Houston police say officers were called to the 8400 block of Broadway Street around 1 a.m., where they discovered an adult male with at least one gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department medics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Neighbors told investigators they heard multiple gunshots in the area shortly before officers showed up.
According to Click2Houston, detectives from HPD's Homicide Division and Crime Scene Unit were called out in the middle of the night to process evidence and start piecing together what happened. Police have released few details so far, and the investigation remains wide open.

Just days earlier, a head shot outside a corner store on Cullen Boulevard on June 27 left another man clinging to life, adding to growing concerns about gun violence in the broader southeast Houston corridor.

Houston police say this latest killing is still under active investigation. As of early Friday, officers had not publicly released a suspect description or possible motive.
