A summer afternoon in Morrisania turned chaotic on Sunday when a 16-year-old boy was shot in the right leg near Fulton Avenue and East 173rd Street, just off the Crotona Pool in the Bronx, police said. The teen was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The shooting unfolded only a short walk from the busy public pool, which shut down for the rest of the day while detectives locked down the area and worked the scene for hours.
Investigators recovered multiple shell casings at the corner and continued combing the block for evidence into the afternoon, according to News 12 New York. The outlet reported that police had not released a description of the shooter and that no arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon. The NYPD said the probe is ongoing as officers canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage.
