A Sunday drive in Bullhead City turned violent when a 28-year-old local man was shot after a roadside confrontation near McCormick Boulevard and Highway 68. The man suffered serious injuries and was first taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, then flown to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment. Police say he is expected to recover, while several suspects took off in multiple vehicles.
According to a Facebook post by the Bullhead City Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. on July 12 to the intersection after a report that a man had been shot. Investigators say the clash involved several males and one female. During the altercation, one person pulled out a firearm and fired several rounds, hitting the 28-year-old victim.
Police say the man was initially transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, then transferred to a Las Vegas hospital. In a July 14 update, the department reported he was in stable condition and expected to recover. The same update noted that several suspects fled the scene in multiple vehicles and had not yet been contacted by detectives.
Police Say Road-Rage Sparked the Fight
The department’s post states the whole thing started as a road‑rage incident inside Davis Camp and then escalated once the parties reached the intersection. Davis Camp is a Colorado River access and camping area along Highway 68, according to the City of Bullhead City general plan.
Local Context and Previous Incidents
This is not the first time Bullhead City has dealt with a high‑profile weapons case this year. In February, a February home‑invasion shooting left a man wounded. Other recent shootings and police searches in the tri-state river region have also drawn attention, as covered by outlets like Arizona's Family.
Investigation Ongoing
As of the July 14 update, detectives said they had not yet contacted the suspects and that the investigation remains active, according to the Bullhead City Police Department. Authorities have not released suspect descriptions or identities and have not announced any charges in the case.
