Downtown Canfield is trading one Dairy Queen for another, and this one is bigger, shinier, and ready to serve more than just soft-serve. A new Dairy Queen Grill and Chill is set to open at 587 E. Main Street, a standalone spot with a patio, dual-lane drive-thru and seating for about 60 people. The longtime Dairy Queen on S. Broad Street is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. on Wednesday as its operations shift to the new address.
The DQ Grill & Chill, which will bring full food service alongside the classic frozen treats, is expected to open in August and will feature mobile ordering through the app, a six-door cake freezer and extra patio seating, according to WKBN. The new building was constructed by the Parillo brothers of Girard, the outlet reports.
What DQ Grill & Chill Will Bring
DQ Grill & Chill locations combine a hot-food menu with the brand’s familiar soft-serve in a more full-service setup, complete with open dining rooms, patios and drive-thru lanes. That format matches what Dairy Queen franchising lays out for new builds. Parillo Builders, the Girard contractor credited with the Canfield project, highlights restaurant franchise construction among its services on its Parillo Builders site.
Old Store Closing And The Transition
The Dairy Queen on S. Broad Street will serve its last Blizzards at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, then staff and equipment will be moved a short hop over to the new E. Main Street building. The company has not yet pinned down a specific grand-opening date beyond an anticipated August launch, according to WKBN.
For now, Canfield diners can count on the same menu favorites, soon to be housed in a larger, more modern space with added patio seating and a faster dual-lane drive-thru. We will update readers once the franchise posts an exact opening date and hours.
