A Cincinnati man will spend at least a decade in prison after a deadly gun game at a Winton Hills home ended with a young woman dead. The case, which began as a murder prosecution, concluded Friday with a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter.
Omarion Horne pleaded guilty in the death of 23-year-old Rachel Counts and was sentenced to at least 10 years in prison, according to FOX19, citing the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. Counts was killed during the October 5, 2025, gathering in Cincinnati’s Winton Hills neighborhood.
Fatal Shooting Followed Card Game At Winton Hills Home
Cincinnati police said officers were dispatched to Kings Run Court around 10:45 p.m. on October 5, 2025, after a report of a person shot. Responding firefighters attempted life-saving measures, but Counts was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.
Prosecutors said Horne was with friends playing cards when he pulled out a revolver, removed all but one bullet and suggested they play Russian roulette. He then allegedly pointed the gun at Counts and pulled the trigger, striking her in the chest, as detailed by WCPO.

Prosecutor Says Loaded Guns Are Never A Game
Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said the shooting showed the irreversible consequences of treating a firearm recklessly. “There is no safe way to play with a firearm,” Pillich said in comments reported by FOX19.
Horne’s plea resolved the criminal case without a trial, while the sentence marks the latest court outcome in a killing that began with a gathering among friends and ended with Counts’ death. The minimum 10-year prison term reflects the sentencing announced Friday.
