After more than four decades of food, drinks and live music on Cincinnati’s West Side, Jim & Jack’s on the River is looking for a new owner — but the longtime Riverside hangout is not announcing an immediate shutdown.
The owners have announced plans to sell the restaurant and bar, according to Cincinnati Business Courier. The property is being marketed with a liquor license, full commercial kitchen, 18-tap bar, party room and dedicated live-music stage, although the report did not identify a sale price or buyer.
Jim & Jack’s says it opened in 1985 and grew from a small neighborhood gathering spot into a family-owned restaurant and entertainment venue serving customers from across the Tri-State. The business currently advertises a full menu, rotating beer taps, live entertainment and private-event bookings through its official website.
A Riverside Destination With Deep Cincinnati Roots
The restaurant’s staying power was formally recognized in 2016, when Cincinnati City Council approved a resolution praising Jim & Jack’s for its contributions to the city’s business, entertainment and restaurant communities over 31 years.
That identity as a destination has long been part of the restaurant’s story. In recent coverage by WCPO, manager Karen Hartwig described the business as a place customers visit deliberately rather than stumble upon while passing through Riverside.
For now, Jim & Jack’s website continues to list regular Tuesday-through-Sunday operations, live music and reservations. Any change to the restaurant’s name, ownership or operating schedule will depend on whether a buyer emerges for the long-running River Road property.
