A Foxborough man is facing multiple charges after police say he robbed the Shell gas station on Commercial Street just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, then tried to get away in a vehicle before officers tracked him down nearby. Police converged on the area, secured the scene and began combing surrounding streets while detectives launched an active investigation that is still underway.
Police Say Suspect Nabbed After Fleeing in Car
According to a Facebook post from the Foxborough Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:50 p.m. for a reported unarmed robbery at the Shell station at 32 Commercial Street. Responding officers locked down the gas station while others searched the surrounding area.
Police said the suspect had taken off from the scene in a motor vehicle, but Sgt. David Foscaldo located the man in a nearby area, and Officer Sean Taylor helped take him into custody. Detectives are now gathering witness statements and reviewing evidence as the investigation continues.
Suspect Identified, Facing Multiple Charges
Police identified the arrested man as Timothy Giglio. According to the department, he faces charges of unarmed robbery, assault and battery, disorderly conduct and assault. The post states that Giglio is expected to be arraigned at Wrentham District Court, which is located on East Street in Wrentham.
The department added that persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, underscoring that the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
