A 62-year-old man accused in a deadly April stabbing in Decatur is back in DeKalb County, where he is now jailed on a murder charge after what authorities describe as a coordinated fugitive takedown.
Investigators say Albert McKinney was arrested Thursday at a Jonesboro residence in a multi-agency operation, then transported to the DeKalb County Jail. The arrest stems from the April 9 killing of his roommate at an apartment on Flat Shoals Road in Decatur.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service, took McKinney into custody and booked him into jail on a malice murder charge, according to CBS News Atlanta. Deputies say he is being held without bond. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim or released any information about what they believe led to the fatal confrontation inside the apartment.
Charges and case status
According to the sheriff's office, McKinney is wanted in connection with the April 9 death of his roommate at the Flat Shoals Road apartment. A warrant accuses him of stabbing the victim, causing their death, and officials say the investigation is still active.
"As always, public safety is at the forefront of everything we do," DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a statement announcing the arrest, as reported by CBS News Atlanta.
