Sauced, the Crossroads smash-burger stand that built a cult following out of a tiny walk-up window, is officially firing the grills back up on Tuesday. The burger operation is moving into a much larger storefront directly across from its original spot, trading cramped counter space for air conditioning, tables and room to breathe.

According to the Kansas City Star, Sauced is shifting into a roughly 2,000-square-foot space at 7 E. 19th St., with seating for about 40 and plans to add outdoor tables. Owner Steven Blakley told the paper he designed the interior to flex for pop-ups and events, a major upgrade from the former 125-square-foot stand that did not have HVAC, which made service brutal during Kansas City summers. Blakley also told the Star he hopes to begin soft openings next week or in the following few weeks and urged fans to keep an eye on the restaurant’s social channels for the latest details.

KCTV reports that Sauced is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, with video showing crews tackling final touches and staff getting the kitchen ready. The station noted that soft openings will likely roll out before a full schedule is in place, so exact hours could shift at first.
