Denver’s romantasy faithful have another date with dragons, jerseys and the Colorado Avalanche. Rebecca Yarros will return to Ball Arena for Iron Flame Night on October 28, when the Avs face the New Jersey Devils.
The Avalanche and Yarros announced the sequel-themed night Friday, according to The Denver Post. VIP packages go on sale next Friday at 10 a.m. local time and will include an Avs-Iron Flame shirsey, a signed Avalanche-themed copy of the book and a question-and-answer session with Yarros, who is expected to attend.
The event is also part of the Avalanche’s planned slate of five book club nights for the 2026-27 season, a sign that the team’s reading crowd is now getting nearly as much attention as its goal celebrations.
A Sequel To A Very Fast Sellout
The Iron Flame event follows last season’s Fourth Wing Night, which the Avalanche’s theme-night listing marked as sold out. That night was built around Yarros’ first Empyrean novel and turned a regular home game into a full-scale romantasy gathering.
The demand was not exactly subtle: More than 30,000 people tried to buy a little over 2,500 available tickets, according to The Denver Post. The previous VIP package included a special jersey, a book and a meet-and-greet with Yarros, setting a fairly intimidating bar for the sequel.
Yarros is a Colorado-based bestselling author and hockey mom, according to her official biography. Her Iron Flame series page identifies the novel as Book 2 in the Empyrean series, following Fourth Wing in the dragon-rider fantasy romance saga.

The Avalanche is not the only Colorado team to discover that fantasy readers will happily buy a sports ticket for the right piece of merchandise. The Colorado Rockies’ 2026 Fourth Wing package also sold out and offered fans a special jersey, a Yarros-related VIP experience and an autographed edition of the book, according to the team’s ticket page.
For Denver fans, the practical lesson is simple: October 28 is the date to circle, but next Friday is the date that may require the faster reflexes. The dragons are fictional; the ticket scramble is very real.
