Detroit is starting this morning with clear skies and temperatures in the low 60s. Sunshine will stick around through the afternoon, when temperatures reach about 81 degrees. The forecast stays dry, but a noticeable north wind will add some extra zip to the day.
Afternoon Stays Sunny But Breezy
The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac office expects north winds of 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Skies will remain mostly sunny, and the air should feel more comfortable than the hotter stretch expected later this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Tomorrow looks much like Wednesday but warmer, with full sunshine and a high near 85. On Friday, it pushes into the upper 80s, reaching about 87 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
Rain Chances Return Friday Night
A slight chance of showers arrives after 8 p.m. on Friday, with clouds increasing overnight and temperatures falling to around 67. Saturday brings a better chance of showers and thunderstorms, although the high should remain seasonable near 82 degrees.
Showers and thunderstorms remain possible Saturday night and next Sunday, with next Sunday topping out near 81 and turning partly sunny at times. Next Monday should be mostly sunny with a high around 83, though a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms remains in the forecast.
Boaters Face Stronger Winds Wednesday
Small Craft Advisories are in effect today on Lake St. Clair and parts of southern Lake Huron, where winds and waves may be rough for smaller boats. Conditions are expected to ease tomorrow as high pressure builds over the region, the NWS forecast discussion says.
