Deputies say a Miami-Dade man is behind bars this week after DNA and surveillance footage allegedly tied him to a string of stalking incidents and an occupied-home burglary in Kendale Lakes. Jail records identify the suspect as 36-year-old Kevin Perez, who now faces multiple felony counts that include burglary, voyeurism, criminal mischief and aggravated stalking. According to deputies, the cases center on two different victims in the same southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood.
Investigators say they were called just before midnight to a home in the 12700 block of Southwest 68th Terrace after a woman woke up to see an unknown man standing in her doorway. The intruder bolted when she screamed. Deputies allege the suspect forced his way in by prying open a laundry-room sliding glass door, causing about $500 in damage, and that DNA and fingerprint evidence collected at the scene later produced a match. Surveillance video and a neighbor’s Ring camera reportedly linked the same man to a second victim, showing him approach a parking lot, then linger outside an apartment before trying the front door. According to Local 10, jail records show Perez was arrested Thursday and gave both verbal and written statements after waiving his Miranda rights.
Charges and custody
County jail records list Perez as facing burglary, voyeurism and criminal mischief counts in connection with the break-in, along with a separate aggravated stalking charge in the other case. The Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Department lists Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as the county’s main pretrial facility and provides an online inmate search to check custody status. Prosecutors are expected to review the arrest reports as the cases move through the county court system.
Past arrests and neighborhood concern
As reported by Local 10 last year, Perez has a history of arrests on allegations of voyeurism, indecent exposure and earlier occupied-dwelling burglaries, and a probation officer recommended resentencing. That earlier coverage included surveillance footage and arrest reports that investigators said showed a suspect entering backyards and exposing himself while watching victims inside their homes. The recurrence of similar accusations has left some Kendale Lakes residents unsettled and concerned about safety.
Detectives say the investigation remains open and that prosecutors will ultimately decide whether to file formal charges. Evidence collected at the scenes, including the DNA and fingerprint matches, was central to identifying a suspect, according to authorities. We will update this story as court filings and official releases become available.
