An accused killer who spent years on the run is now in custody after a DeKalb County fugitive operation ended in Ellenwood on Thursday. Deputies arrested Bobby Curry at a residence without incident and took him into custody on charges of murder, aggravated assault with a weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with an August 2023 killing.
According to The Georgia Sun, Curry had been on the metro area's Top 10 Most Wanted list and had been evading arrest since October 2023. Detectives from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, assisted by other deputies, tracked him to the Ellenwood residence and made the arrest without violence. He was then taken to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

Per the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, the county jail is located at 4425 Memorial Drive in Decatur and handles booking for suspects arrested in DeKalb County. The sheriff's office also maintains an online inmate portal and family hotline that provide current booking and bond information.
In a statement to The Georgia Sun, Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said, "The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office locates and apprehends violent offenders no matter how long it takes. This arrest reflects our steadfast commitment to public safety." The department credited its fugitive unit with tracking Curry down and carrying out a safe arrest.
