Firefighters will not be based at the station during the work, and both equipment and staffing will be shifted to other sites so emergency coverage in the area continues. In a post on CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire's Facebook page, the agency explained that the project will address critical infrastructure failures that impact the health and safety of firefighters and detailed how crews will be shuffled. According to the post, Water Tender 15 will be reassigned to Station 10 in Fallbrook, Engine 3381 will operate from Station 14 in Escondido, and Deer Springs Station 11 will cover fire and EMS calls for the Miller Station area while Station 15 is offline.

Past station shutdowns have already put locals on edge about response times. As reported by NBC 7 San Diego, a closure of Station 30 for water-system repairs in 2025 was linked to questions over a delayed response to a Dulzura house fire.
