Even Keel, a new upscale-casual concept, is moving into the Uptown storefront at 2901 Lyndale Ave S in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood, taking over the space that most recently housed Aurelia's Mexican and, before that, longtime tenant Lago Tacos. The incoming spot is planning a menu built around burgers, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, and small plates. Aurelia's closed in mid-July to clear room for the new tenant.

As reported by Bring Me The News, Aurelia's posted on Instagram that it was taking "a few weeks off to rebrand, refocus, and return stronger than ever" and thanked diners "for every laugh, meal, and memory." The message framed the closure as a temporary pause while the team prepares the new concept in the same Lyn-Lake space.

Bring Me The News describes Even Keel as "an upscale-casual neighborhood joint centered on balance, precision, and responsibility" and reports the menu will lean on burgers, sandwiches, seafood, steaks and small plates. An opening date has not been posted, and the restaurant has a new Instagram page where the owners plan to announce when they're ready to welcome customers.
Uptown churn and what that means
The turnover at 2901 Lyndale is the latest example of churn along Lyndale Avenue, a stretch that has lost several bars and restaurants in recent years. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported in March 2025 that Lyndale construction prompted Lago Tacos to move from the address, and CBS Minnesota has linked a string of recent closures to slipping foot traffic and planned road work. Local owners have said construction and shifting customer patterns have made it harder for small spots to survive in Lyn-Lake.

Even Keel has not posted an opening date publicly; Instagram is the best place for updates and sneak peeks. For Uptown regulars, this is another noticeable change to the block's lineup as Lyn-Lake heads toward roadwork and other neighborhood shifts.
