What started as a simple Facebook Marketplace meetup for a necklace has turned into a felony case, with a 23-year-old now sitting in the El Paso County Jail.
Deputies arrested Uriel Alas on Tuesday after tracking him to a residence near Pebble Hills Park. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant alleging aggravated robbery tied to a Facebook Marketplace deal that allegedly went sideways last month in the 10300 block of Gateway East, according to KTSM 9 News.
Authorities say constables from Precincts 3 and 4 first made a traffic stop near the 3200 block of Isla Bahia. From there, investigators confirmed Alas was inside a nearby residence and moved in. He was arrested without incident, booked into the El Paso County Jail, and held without bond, KTSM reported.
Why The Case Is Charged As Aggravated Robbery
Under the Texas Penal Code, aggravated robbery is a first-degree felony when a robbery involves serious bodily injury, a deadly weapon, or certain protected victims. At this stage, the charge remains an allegation, and the case will still have to make its way through the courts.
