Gunfire tore through Martin Luther King Jr. Park early Sunday in Kansas City, leaving four people wounded after officers rolled up on what started as a suspicious activity call, authorities said. The victims, an adult woman, an adult man and two juveniles over 16, sustained injuries that police described as non‑life‑threatening as detectives fanned out across the park gathering statements and evidence.
According to KMBC, officers were dispatched when a caller reported suspicious activity involving roughly 50 juveniles near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Woodland Avenue. As officers pulled up, they heard several gunshots ring out in the area, KMBC reported.
Per the Kansas City Police Department, all four victims suffered non‑life‑threatening injuries. Two were taken to area hospitals, another was treated after driving himself to a police station for help, and investigators said they had no suspect information to release as the case remains open.

As reported by KMBC, those hit by gunfire were identified as an adult female, an adult male, a juvenile female over 16 and a juvenile male over 16. Detectives continued canvassing the park and reviewing any available video, working to piece together what exactly triggered the violence in the crowded gathering.
