Hollywood police say a 43-year-old man is behind bars after a months-long narcotics investigation ended Wednesday with a raid on a city home that turned up hundreds of grams of drugs and more than $60,000 in cash. The operation brought together the department's Street Crimes Unit and SWAT officers, who zeroed in on the property over suspected drug activity.
Search and booking
Detectives and SWAT served a search warrant at a home in the 1900 block of Adams Street and arrested 43-year-old Amos Curtis Knight, according to police. Booking records list his arrest date as July 15 and show he is being held at the Broward County Main Jail, according to FloridaArrests.org.
What police say they recovered
Investigators say they hauled away what the department described as trafficking amounts of several drugs, including 391.3 grams of cocaine, about 7.5 pounds of cannabis, 13.6 grams of MDMA, 14.5 grams of amphetamine, 6.9 grams of oxycodone and 45.4 grams of alprazolam, along with more than $60,000 in cash. Those quantities and the cash seizure were detailed in a department statement reported by WPLG Local 10.
Charges and prior bookings
Knight is charged with trafficking cocaine, MDMA and amphetamines, as well as possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, alprazolam and cannabis, according to Broward booking records. Those same records also indicate Knight faced trafficking-related bookings in May 2024.
Police statement
In a statement touting the outcome of the operation, the Hollywood Police Department credited the work of its Street Crimes Unit, saying, "This investigation highlights our Street Crimes Unit's commitment to keeping Hollywood safe," as reported by WPLG Local 10. Knight remains in custody at the Broward County Main Jail pending prosecution.
Potential penalties under Florida law
Under Florida law, trafficking cocaine in amounts between 200 and 400 grams carries a mandatory minimum prison term of seven years and a $100,000 fine, with stiffer mandatory minimums for larger quantities, according to Florida Statute 893.135. If the cocaine seized in this case is tied to a conviction, those statutory minimums could apply.
