Honeywell Aerospace is spreading out in the Valley, locking in a 29,000-square-foot office lease at 1625 W. Fountainhead Parkway in Tempe to handle overflow staff from its already packed Phoenix operations.
The new space sits on the Fountainhead Heights campus, about six miles from Honeywell Aerospace's Phoenix headquarters and its engine maintenance and engineering facilities, keeping teams close to the company's core aerospace hub.
According to Phoenix Business Journal, the company signed the Tempe lease to give its regional teams extra breathing room. That report also notes Honeywell employs about 9,000 people across the Phoenix metro and identifies the tenant as Honeywell Aerospace and the address as 1625 W. Fountainhead Parkway.
What the building offers
Per the building brochure for Fountainhead Heights, the two-tower campus has recently been renovated and comes with the kind of perks big corporate tenants like to show off on recruiting tours. On-site amenities include a full-service café, a fitness center with showers and lockers, conference facilities and a six-level parking structure.
The brochure lists an average floor plate of roughly 29,000 square feet, which makes the new Honeywell deal a neat, single-floor match for a tenant looking to keep teams on one contiguous level.
Why Tempe?
Honeywell Aerospace lists Phoenix as the headquarters for its aerospace business and has been vocal about its maintenance, repair and overhaul presence in the city, a big reason it continues to stack facilities around the Valley.
In a recent company release, Honeywell Aerospace highlighted engine repair and MRO work taking place at its Phoenix facilities and noted that the aerospace division employs tens of thousands of people globally. Keeping an overflow office a short drive away in Tempe fits with that regional cluster strategy.
What it means locally
The Tempe lease may be small in the context of Honeywell's broader footprint, but it still registers as another data point showing that large aerospace employers want amenity-heavy, freeway-accessible office campuses in the East Valley.
The lease rate, term and move-in date for the Tempe office were not disclosed in the coverage by Phoenix Business Journal.
