A brief Illinois State Police pursuit on Interstate 57 ended Tuesday with a crash in south suburban Dixmoor, putting one person in custody and two minors into the care of authorities. Troopers in Matteson had spotted a car wanted in connection with a shooting and tried to pull it over, but the driver took off, according to officials. Chase Slams To A Stop Near 147th And Cooper
As reported by CBS News Chicago, Illinois State Police troopers in Matteson spotted the vehicle around 12:30 p.m. and attempted a traffic stop. The car allegedly fled, triggering a short pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed near 147th Street and Cooper Avenue in Dixmoor.
Authorities say the driver tried to run after the wreck but was quickly arrested. Two minors who were in the vehicle were also taken into custody and, according to officials, did not have any apparent injuries. Police have not released identifying information about the driver or the children and have not said whether any charges are pending.
