A motorcycle rider is dead after a late-night collision with a Toyota Corolla in Kansas City, Kansas, that left the passenger car engulfed in flames. The crash unfolded early Thursday at a local intersection, with investigators now working to determine exactly what led to the deadly impact.
KCK officers responded at approximately 12:27 a.m. to South 47th Street and Melody Lane after reports of a two-vehicle crash, according to KCTV5's initial report. Investigators said the motorcycle collided with a Toyota Corolla, causing one vehicle to catch fire. The motorcycle operator was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, while police had not released the rider's identity.

The crash follows another deadly motorcycle collision in Kansas City, Kansas, near 78th Street and Parallel Parkway. On May 3, The Kansas City Star reported that crash was the third motorcyclist death in the Kansas City area in roughly a month.
