Las Vegas is starting Friday clear and already around 84 degrees, with the valley headed for a 113-degree afternoon—and the weekend is expected to run even hotter. The latest forecast leaves little doubt that this is a stay-inside, hydrate-early kind of stretch.
Saturday Could Be The Peak
The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for the Las Vegas Valley through 8 p.m. Sunday, with dangerous conditions expected across the Mojave Desert. The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 115 degrees Saturday, followed by 114 Sunday and 113 Monday.
Friday night will only cool to around 89 degrees, while overnight lows are expected to hover near 90 through much of the weekend. That limited nighttime relief is part of why the warning calls for a significantly increased risk of heat-related illness, especially for people working or exercising outdoors.
Light Winds, Serious Heat
Winds should mostly stay light Friday and Saturday, generally below 10 mph, before turning breezier Sunday and Monday with speeds occasionally reaching the mid-to-upper teens. Skies will remain sunny or mostly clear, with near-zero rain chances through Thursday and no meaningful cooldown in sight.
Several Las Vegas daily high records from Friday through Monday are within three degrees of the forecast, according to NWS forecasters. An earlier Hoodline forecast covered the previous heat warning, but this update brings a hotter weekend peak and extends the warning through Sunday evening.
Heat Safety Is The Main Assignment
Forecasters advise drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air conditioning, avoiding the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. Never leave children or pets in a parked car, where temperatures can become lethal within minutes; if someone shows signs of heat stroke, move them to a cool place and call 911.
