
A late-night trip to a Mesa Street Walgreens near the University of Texas at El Paso ended in gunfire Thursday, leaving a 32-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries and the store surrounded by crime scene tape.
El Paso Police were called to the Walgreens in the 2800 block of North Mesa Street after a 911 call came in at 11:34 p.m., according to KFOX. Detectives from the department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit responded to the scene, and the victim was taken to a hospital with what police described as serious injuries, the station reports.

The El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is tasked with handling cases that involve serious bodily injury, aggravated assault, and suspicious deaths, according to City of El Paso press releases.
