A late-night neighbor dispute in Canutillo erupted into violence early Sunday, leaving a 21-year-old man with multiple stab wounds and sending him to a local hospital. Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the scene, provided first aid and turned the victim over to emergency medical crews, as the incident rattled residents and set off an active investigation.
Scene and response
Deputies were called at about 1:48 a.m. to the 600 block of Joe Angel Road in Canutillo, where they found a 21-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. They rendered first aid until fire department personnel and Life Ambulance crews arrived, and the victim was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators recovered a knife believed to have been used in the assault and later obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Adam Fierro. Fierro was taken into custody, booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, and held on a $75,000 bond, as reported by KFOX.
Charges and legal context
Fierro is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, an offense prosecuted under Texas Penal Code §22.02. Under that statute, the offense is generally a second-degree felony. A second-degree felony in Texas carries a possible sentence of two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000, according to Texas law.
Sheriff's warning
El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte used the incident as a cautionary example, urging residents to walk away before heated words turn into violence. "Arguments and disagreements should never escalate into violence," he said, encouraging people to call law enforcement before someone is seriously hurt.
