An armed robbery at the Dash In convenience store on Nursery Road in Linthicum early Friday turned chaotic when a revolver went off inside the shop, but no one was hurt. Police say the suspect demanded cash after asking for cigarettes, struck the register with the gun, and a round was discharged during that blow. He then ran off on foot with stolen merchandise before officers arrived.
According to WCBM, Anne Arundel County officers were called around 3 a.m. on July 17 to the Dash In at 724 Nursery Road. Investigators say the suspect, described as a Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old, was wearing a blue flat-brimmed hat, a black shirt, a long white sleeve on his right arm, and long black shorts when he pulled a revolver and demanded cash. When he struck the register with the weapon, a shot went off, but WCBM reports no injuries. Officers searched the surrounding area but could not find the suspect.
Investigators Ask for Video and Tips
The county's Regional Crimes Unit has taken over the case and is asking anyone with information, video, or photos to call 410-222-4730 or leave an anonymous tip at 410-222-4700, according to a police press release. Detectives say that even short dash-cam or doorbell clips can help them piece together a direction of travel or pick up small identifying details that could lead to an arrest.
A Pattern of Convenience Store Holdups
The Linthicum heist is one of several pre-dawn convenience store robberies Anne Arundel detectives have been working this summer, a pattern highlighted in local coverage. Earlier this month, a similar armed hold-up at a Crofton 7-Eleven was reported.
