One of central Minnesota's biggest fall weekends is getting a tighter footprint. The Little Falls Arts and Crafts Fair is redrawing its downtown map for 2026, packing more than 600 vendors into a more compact shopping zone and shifting the Marketplace hub to First Street SE. Booths are coming off Highway 27 and Broadway as organizers try to make the two-day fair easier to navigate and safer for the crush of visitors that arrive each September.
Organizers point to safety and better flow
Purva Watten, president of the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, told WJON that old-fashioned congestion is driving the redesign. "It's going to look nicer, busier, fuller," Watten said, adding that the tighter layout is intended to cut down on conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians while making it simpler for people to move through the fair. The shuffle comes as the long-running event heads into its 53rd year.
Dates, vendor numbers and logistics
According to the fair's official site, the Little Falls Arts and Crafts Fair will run Sept. 12–13, 2026, with roughly 600 vendors spread through the downtown core. The event page and FAQs spell out shuttle and parking logistics, including free parking at the Morrison County Fairgrounds with a regular shuttle that drops riders at several downtown stops. Organizers urge visitors to study the event map and vendor directory before they roll into town and stress that the fair is staying in the historic riverfront downtown rather than moving to a more distant fairground.
Shuttle link to the new military museum
Fair planners are also tying the event into a separate local milestone. Organizers are coordinating free bus rides for fairgoers to the Minnesota Military & Veterans Museum's grand-opening events, with buses set to pick up near the downtown police station, as reported by WJON. The museum confirms a September 2026 grand opening for its new facility near Camp Ripley, just north of Little Falls, and event organizers expect that to pull even more people into the area that weekend. They say the shuttle connection should help keep extra cars out of the compact shopping district while giving visitors an easy way to see both attractions.
How visitors and vendors should plan
The fair's posted hours are Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers encourage visitors to use the interactive map and vendor directory on the official site to chart a path through the denser layout. They recommend taking advantage of the free Morrison County Fairgrounds parking and shuttle or using downtown lots to avoid traffic headaches. Vendors will set up in standard 10-by-10 spaces, with walkways laid out to keep crowds moving.
The most concentrated shopping is expected along First Street SE in the Marketplace zone between Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union and Nouis Home Care. That is where the Chamber is betting a tighter footprint will translate into a livelier, easier-to-shop experience for artists, vendors and the thousands of fair fans who flood Little Falls each September.
