A Hollywood man was arrested Thursday, July 16, 2026, and now faces a first-degree felony after investigators say he drove away from a crash that killed a motorcyclist near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in January. Police say the collision happened in the early hours of Jan. 13 at the intersection of State Road 7 and Lucky Street.

According to surveillance video and a Seminole Police Department report, a Lexus was seen at the crash scene and later at what officers say was the suspect’s home, a trail investigators say led to the arrest. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Ludgy Sanon, allegedly told a family member he had borrowed a 2000 Lexus GS 300 and remembered “striking a pothole” after work on Jan. 13, according to Local 10.

“Sanon appeared visibly shocked and mortified, especially after learning that the individual had died,” an officer wrote in the report reviewed by Local 10. County booking logs show he was processed on July 16 and is facing a first-degree charge for leaving the scene of a crash involving death, according to Broward arrest records.

How police say the crash unfolded

According to the police report, a 62-year-old woman driving a 2015 Toyota Camry was heading north on SR-7 and tried to make a turn when a southbound motorcycle braked, lost control and slid into the passenger side of the car. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and later pronounced dead at Memorial Regional Hospital.

A witness on the fifth floor of the Lucky Street garage told investigators they heard a loud bang, went to check it out and found the rider unresponsive. The witness then reported seeing a car run over the motorcyclist before driving away, according to the report.

What the charge carries

Florida law treats leaving the scene of a crash that results in a death as a serious felony. Under Florida Statute 316.027, a driver involved in a crash that causes death must stop, remain at the scene and render aid. Violations involving a fatality are charged as a first-degree felony, with mandatory driver-license consequences and the possibility of prison time.

Where it happened

The collision took place near the Lucky Street garage at the Seminole Hard Rock complex in Hollywood. The casino’s public parking information lists the Lucky Street Garage as one of three on-site garages at the property, according to the venue’s parking guide.

Sanon is presumed innocent and the case remains under investigation. Prosecutors will decide whether to file formal charges; the Seminole Police Department handled the original report, and booking logs show he was processed on July 16, according to Broward arrest records.
