Mandeville’s long-awaited Trader Joe’s is finally set to open next Wednesday, bringing the cult-favorite grocery chain to the Northshore. The new store is poised to turn a former HomeGoods space into one of the area’s most anticipated morning errands.
The opening-day celebration will begin at 8 a.m. and include product samples plus a Trader Joe’s bag giveaway for the first 100 customers, according to WDSU. The store is expected to operate daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving shoppers plenty of time to stock up on frozen favorites, snacks and the chain’s famously hard-to-predict inventory.
Trader Joe’s Opening Day Details
Trader Joe’s official store listing confirms the Mandeville location will open next Wednesday at its Highway 190 site. The company’s Louisiana directory also lists stores in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Metairie and New Orleans, making the Mandeville shop part of a growing statewide footprint.
The project has been in the works since late 2025, when Mayor Clay Madden announced that the city had issued a permit for Trader Joe’s to move into the former HomeGoods location at Pontchartrain Square. In a January newsletter, the City of Mandeville said the parking lot refurbishment had already begun.
For Northshore shoppers, the opening means a Trader Joe’s run no longer requires a trip across Lake Pontchartrain or into another part of the metro area. It also gives Mandeville’s busy retail corridor another national draw just as the local grocery competition gets a little more interesting.
