A 20-year-old man was shot just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday outside 1901 Hennessy Place in the University Heights section of the Bronx, police said. The victim was hit once in the lower left torso and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is expected to recover.
Investigators say the shooter was a man wearing a black ski mask who took off westbound on West Burnside Avenue in a blue Honda. No arrests have been made and the motive is still a mystery, according to ABC7 New York, which also reported the victim's injuries and that he was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.

On June 18, a 79-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were wounded in a daylight crossfire on 183rd Street; both were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and were expected to survive. The wounded man in Saturday's shooting was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in Belmont. The hospital lists its main campus at 4422 Third Avenue on the SBH Health System website, according to SBH Health System.

Police have not announced any arrests, and the motive remains under investigation, ABC7 New York reported. Detectives say the probe is ongoing and officials have not released any additional identifying details about the gunman.
