A red Corvette's late-night burnout near a Memphis intersection allegedly kicked off a chase, but it was a Facebook profile — not a roadblock — that helped investigators identify the driver.
According to Action News 5, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper spotted the Corvette around 11:20 p.m. Sunday near Airways Boulevard and Park Avenue in Shelby County. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to slow down.
The affidavit says the driver, later identified as Devin Jackson, ran red lights and crossed lanes of traffic while driving recklessly. Jackson eventually disappeared from the trooper's view, leaving investigators with a distinctive vehicle and a short list of digital breadcrumbs.
A day later, the trooper searched Facebook and found a profile linked to Jackson that showed the same red Corvette, the station reported. Investigators then continued looking into the case, and Jackson was taken into custody.
Charges Follow The Memphis-Area Pursuit
Jackson is facing charges of evading arrest, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, speeding, and failure to exercise due care. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the case will proceed through the Tennessee legal system.
