Midday gunfire turned a Dorchester block into a homicide scene Wednesday, when a man was shot and killed near York Street, according to Boston police. Officers and Boston Emergency Medical Services raced to the area after a report of a person shot and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives quickly took over as officers taped off the block and began knocking on doors and talking with witnesses. Investigators also recovered ballistic evidence in the area of Glenway Street while multiple cruisers and detectives were seen on foot in the neighborhood, WCVB reported.
Boston Police told WCVB that no arrests have been made as detectives continue to canvass the area for leads.

The killing adds to a troubling run of shootings in Dorchester this spring, including a deadly incident reported on May 22 and several others that left people injured, according to Boston.com. Police have said some of those earlier cases appear to have been targeted, while other investigations remain active.

Drivers should expect possible traffic issues in the immediate area near York, Glenway and Greenwood streets while investigators work the scene.
