Police are asking for the public’s help tracking down five people caught on camera inside the Chick-fil-A on 14th Street NW during a late-night burglary that left the closed restaurant with damaged property in the early hours of June 20.

According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department, the break-in happened at about 12:12 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in the 3100 block of 14th Street NW. Investigators say the suspects destroyed property before taking off. Police posted still images and video from security cameras and listed the case under number CCN 26084954.

WJLA reported that investigators consider the five people seen in the footage to be persons of interest and want to hear from anyone who recognizes them. The station noted that police have not said what, if anything, was taken or how the suspects got inside the restaurant.

How to help

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Crime Solvers of D.C. is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.

Where this fits

The Chick-fil-A burglary lands amid a run of group thefts and so-called "shelf-sweeping" incidents across the city, including a May Lululemon raid and earlier flash-mob thefts on 14th Street. Police have not said whether this break-in is connected to those cases.
