Gunfire shattered the quiet on a North Seattle block early Thursday, leaving three adult women injured and neighbors rattled after a car was sprayed with bullets just off Aurora Avenue North.
The shooting erupted shortly after midnight in the 1100 block of North 96th Street. Witnesses told police they heard multiple shots and then saw a dark sedan racing south on Aurora Avenue North. Officers later found a silver Ford abandoned near the scene, riddled with bullet holes. The three women were taken to local hospitals, with one rushed to Harborview Medical Center.
What police say
According to the Seattle Police Department, officers were called to the 1100 block of North 96th Street at about 12:06 a.m. and arrived to find three adult women with injuries near the bullet-riddled silver Ford. Investigators say a suspect pulled up in a dark-colored sedan, opened fire on the Ford, then took off southbound on Aurora Avenue North.
Officers processed the scene and documented the damage to the abandoned Ford, which had been struck multiple times by gunfire.
Victims and hospital updates
In the blotter, the Seattle Police Department wrote, "All three women are in stable condition." One victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transferred to Harborview Medical Center. The other two women were treated at UW Medical Center 6 Northwest for injuries caused by shattered glass.
