Gunfire on one of Midtown Atlanta’s busiest corridors left a person wounded Thursday night, with police saying the victim was still alert and breathing after the shooting. The incident unfolded on Peachtree Street as the workweek gave way to Friday, but investigators had not publicly described what led to the gunfire.
Police said the person was shot around 10 p.m. on the 800 block of Peachtree Street NE, according to Atlanta News First. The victim was described as alert, conscious and breathing. The initial report did not identify the victim or say whether anyone had been arrested.

The shooting follows a separate June incident at the Midtown MARTA station, where a 17-year-old was wounded aboard a train. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that police described that case as targeted and later arrested a suspect, though there is no indication the two shootings are connected.
