
Shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, a two-vehicle crash at Cooper Road and Merrill Avenue, just south of Baseline Road in Gilbert, left one adult woman dead and shut down the busy intersection for several hours. First responders, including Gilbert fire crews and police, converged on the scene, working to free a trapped driver and clear the wreckage. The woman was later pronounced dead after being removed from her vehicle.

According to ABC15, Gilbert police said two vehicles were involved and an adult female driver was found unresponsive and trapped in one of them. Fire crews extricated her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle declined medical treatment, police told the outlet.
