Friday morning gunfire once again put Philadelphia's Fairhill neighborhood under a harsh spotlight, after police say a man was found shot multiple times on a Reese Street block already known to detectives.
Police Say Victim Stable, Suspect in Custody
Officers were called to the 2800 block of Reese Street around 9:30 a.m., where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital and is listed in stable condition, according to 6ABC.
Police have not released the victim's name. Investigators say a suspect was taken into custody at the scene and a weapon was recovered, while detectives continue to dig into what sparked the shooting.
Reese Street’s Violent Recent History
The 2800 block of Reese Street has seen trouble before. In 2025, a shooting there left one person dead and two DoorDash delivery workers injured when stray bullets hit them, as reported by stray bullets hit DoorDash teens. That earlier violence, along with other recent incidents in Fairhill, has kept the corridor under heightened police and community scrutiny.
