A suspected explosive device landed inside a Feltonville rowhome early Thursday, then wound up back on the sidewalk after someone inside threw it back out. No one was hurt, but the strange chain of events brought Philadelphia’s bomb squad to the block. According to police, someone threw an unknown device through a window of a North Philadelphia home around 2 a.m. The object was treated as a suspected explosive device, NBC10 Philadelphia reported.
A Device Goes In, Then Comes Back Out
After the object entered the home, an occupant tossed it back through the window and onto the sidewalk. Investigators later examined what appeared to be a box on the ground while police secured the scene.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s bomb squad removed the object, and officers did not evacuate the surrounding block. Police had not publicly identified the device, announced any suspects or reported any arrests as of Thursday morning, according to NBC10’s account.
Investigation Remains Open
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities still working to determine what the device was and why it was thrown into the home. Officials had not released additional details about the people inside or whether the home sustained damage.
