A 24-year-old man is facing murder and attempted murder charges after a double shooting in northeast Charlotte that left a 20-year-old dead and another person clinging to life, according to police.
The gunfire broke out around 8 p.m. on July 10 near North Tryon Street and West 30th Street, officers said. Authorities later identified the suspect as 24-year-old Marquaris Timmons.
Arrest and charges
On Friday, July 24, police charged Timmons with murder and attempted murder in connection with the July 10 shooting, alleging he shot 20-year-old Elijah Gilliard-Robinson, WBTV reported. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Major Brian Sanders told the station that "the entire block was the crime scene," and investigators linked a vehicle to the shooting. The second victim was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the same report.

The man who died was later identified as 20-year-old Cameron Elijah Gilliard-Robinson, according to The Charlotte Observer.
