William Gray, a 31-year-old Oklahoma City man, is headed to federal prison for 25 years after what investigators say was a two-pound meth deal that turned into a frantic bid to ditch the evidence, then go back and get it. He was sentenced Wednesday after being arrested following a drug operation last summer, according to investigators.
Investigators said Gray was supposed to sell two pounds of methamphetamine, according to KOCO 5. While fleeing, they said, Gray tossed the meth out of his car window, only to return the next day to try to retrieve it.
Agents later searched Gray’s home and found five firearms along with additional drugs, according to investigators cited in the report. The haul added gun evidence and more narcotics to a case already centered on pound-level meth trafficking.
Fresh Federal Meth Case Adds To Oklahoma’s Case Load
Gray’s sentence lands amid a series of major meth prosecutions moving through federal court in western Oklahoma. On July 13, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma announced a separate 30-year sentence for a Los Angeles man convicted after authorities found about 30 kilograms of meth hidden in a vehicle compartment.
