Pinyon Coastal Mediterranean has been named the No. 1 Mediterranean restaurant in the United States by Yelp Elites, a national shoutout for the two-story, parkside newcomer that opened late last year and quickly turned into one of the Valley’s most buzzed-about reservations. The ranking shines a fresh spotlight on Old Town and on Hi Noon Hospitality, the Scottsdale-based group behind the concept.

According to Phoenix New Times, Yelp Elites rolled out a top 25 guide last month that put Pinyon in the No. 1 slot on its Mediterranean roundup. The outlet reports that the list was based on both the volume of reviews and ratings from Yelp Elite members, and that qualifying spots needed a passing health score. Yelp also capped the rankings at five Mediterranean restaurants per state, which makes Pinyon’s top billing a fairly exclusive club.
Parkside Plates And The Two-Story Dining Room
Pinyon Coastal Mediterranean sits at 7363 E. Scottsdale Mall, overlooking Scottsdale Civic Center Park, and centers its menu on a Hummusiya lineup of rotating dips paired with house-baked pita. The restaurant highlights items such as artichoke hummus, yellowtail crudo and a baklava cheesecake for dessert. Inside, two levels of dining space mix Portuguese marble and modern chandeliers with views of an outdoor fountain and an upstairs bar, creating a European-leaning indoor-outdoor vibe right off the park.
Hi Noon Hospitality's Growing Footprint
Hi Noon Hospitality, the Scottsdale management group known for Buck & Rider and Ingo’s, lists Pinyon as its latest concept. On the company’s site, CEO Adam Strecker says, “At Pinyon, our goal is to provide more than just a meal,” positioning the restaurant as a spot for shared plates and neighborhood gatherings rather than a one-and-done date night.
What The Recognition Could Mean Locally
Phoenix New Times notes that Pinyon is the only Arizona restaurant to land on the Yelp Elites list, a distinction that could funnel more visitors toward Old Town’s patios, happy hours and weekend service. In a city that actively markets its destination dining, a national nod like this gives Scottsdale another selling point as it competes with other Valley hot spots for out-of-town traffic.
The restaurant opened on Oct. 29, 2025, according to the Phoenix Business Journal, and its daily happy hour and parkside location have kept the two-story space busy since. Whether the Yelp Elite recognition turns into a lasting surge of regulars or a shorter burst of curiosity, the ranking effectively locks in Pinyon as a must-try stop for Mediterranean fans across the Valley.
