Early Saturday, a 32-year-old man from St. Cloud was struck and killed while walking along U.S. 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) east of Pineview Crest Road, according to troopers. Authorities said he was pronounced dead at the scene after an eastbound vehicle hit him.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicle involved was a 2018 Nissan Rogue traveling east in the inside lane when it hit the pedestrian. The driver, a 66-year-old man from Bensalem, Pennsylvania, was injured in the crash. Two passengers, a 67-year-old woman from Melbourne and a 57-year-old woman from Bensalem, were also reported hurt. Troopers said all three remained at the scene, according to WESH.
U.S. 192's Safety Record
U.S. 192, also known as Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, is a busy commercial corridor that has seen multiple serious crashes in recent years. Earlier this year, troopers investigated a fatal motorcycle wreck on this same stretch in March 2025 that briefly shut down lanes, as reported by WFTV. The high traffic volume combined with late-night travel patterns makes pedestrian crashes on the roadway especially dangerous.
Investigation Ongoing
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and that they have not yet released the victim's name, aside from his age and hometown. Florida Highway Patrol investigators are reviewing the scene and tracking the vehicle's movements to determine what led to the collision, officials told WESH. Because the crash happened over a holiday weekend, troopers reminded both drivers and pedestrians to use extra caution on major corridors like U.S. 192. Law enforcement officials said updates will be released as investigators complete their work.
