Sushi Confidential, the party-minded sushi spot that helped put some extra buzz into San Pedro Square, is packing up its rolls and leaving downtown San Jose. The company says its San Pedro Square restaurant will close on Aug. 30, part of a broader pivot toward catering and planned new locations elsewhere in the Bay Area.
Owner Randy Musterer announced the move in a press release, and The Mercury News reports that another hospitality group is already lined up to take over the space after the Aug. 30 shutdown. According to the announcement, the incoming operator has said it is interested in keeping many current employees. Musterer also told the paper that the decision to exit San Pedro Square was made before the recent bump in downtown traffic tied to this summer’s World Cup and the upcoming Super Bowl.
