According to KIRO 7, responders arrived at about 11 a.m. after reports of a possible crash and located the downed plane near the airfield. The station, citing local emergency public information accounts, reported that the fuel leak was described as “minor” and that the pilot was able to exit the aircraft with only minor injuries. Authorities had not released the pilot’s name or the plane’s registration as of the initial reports, and investigators had not yet announced a cause.
Where It Happened
Crest Airfield (formerly Crest Airpark) is a small general-aviation strip southeast of downtown Kent. Aviation directories list it at 29300 179th Place SE. The field primarily serves private pilots and small aircraft, making off-airport landings in the area uncommon but not unheard of in the region. AirNav provides the airport’s listing and basic field data.
Response and Cleanup
Black Diamond Fire & Rescue crews helped secure the crash site and reported that the fuel leak was contained quickly, KIRO 7 noted. Emergency medics evaluated the pilot at the scene, and initial accounts did not indicate any serious injuries. Local authorities did not report wider disruptions to operations at the nearby airfield in the immediate aftermath.
The cause of the incident remains under review, and investigators had not released additional details by midday Friday. Hoodline will update this story as officials publish more information and any findings from aviation authorities.
