Additional crews were investigating the structure's interior and adjacent buildings for possible extensions, while PGE and NW Natural had been requested to respond. Portland’s Burn Ban Covers Yard Debris
The fire is unfolding while a Portland Fire & Rescue burn ban remains in effect during the summer fire season. The city's official burn-ban guidance covers recreational campfires, fire pits, yard debris, agricultural burning and permits for open burning, but the agency has not said whether this pile was tied to any authorized activity.
Utilities Were Requested At The Scene
The update also said PGE and NW Natural had been requested to respond as crews worked around the structure. It was not immediately clear whether either utility had arrived, whether service was interrupted, or whether responders found a gas or electrical hazard.
