The Portland area’s biggest annual parade of aspirational kitchens, dramatic staircases and very expensive-looking throw pillows is back. The NW Natural Street of Dreams opened Thursday for its 50th anniversary, bringing a featured cluster of luxury homes to Oregon City and a broader home tour across the region.
The anniversary edition returns to a full-site format at Serres Farms while also spreading across several Portland-area communities, according to KATU’s preview. The event runs through Aug. 23 and is designed to give visitors a look at what local builders, designers and craftspeople are putting into new residential construction.
Seven Show Homes Anchor The Oregon City Tour
The centerpiece is Serres Farms in Oregon City, where seven custom luxury homes are part of the main showcase. The official event site says the 50th anniversary show includes more than 22 homes overall, combining the featured site with additional properties throughout the greater Portland region.
The ON TOUR portion reaches Lake Oswego, West Linn, Southwest Portland, Northwest Portland and Cannon Beach, among other locations. That means visitors can turn the event into a full weekend of home gawking—or simply choose a neighborhood and see how the other half is currently living.
Tickets Cover Each Home On The Extended Weekend Tour
The show is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. According to official ticket information, general admission costs $29, children 10 and under do not need tickets, and one ticket provides one-time entry to each participating home.
Because the locations are scattered, organizers are directing visitors to the event website and mobile app for route planning and current directions. The format gives the show a more flexible feel than a single-site tour, while the Oregon City homes provide a central anchor for the anniversary season.
Style At The Street Returns With A Scholarship Tie-In
The anniversary programming goes beyond floor plans and designer lighting. Style at the Street returns Aug. 20 after last appearing in 2017, combining fashion, local makers, food, entertainment and design, with proceeds supporting the Home Builders Association’s Professional Women in Building Scholarship Fund, KATU reports.
The Home Building Association of Greater Portland is also using the event to spotlight workforce development and housing-related efforts. Its HBA Home project at Serres Farms is intended to show how current building codes and energy-efficiency measures can be incorporated into a modern home while giving students and pre-apprentices exposure to residential construction careers.
