Quan Hapa, the long-running Asian gastropub in Over-the-Rhine, is closing its cozy Vine Street dining room on July 26 and planning a big comeback just down the street. The restaurant will return in September as a new Vietnamese-focused concept in a space the owners say is nearly three times larger, with the menu and bar shifting more heavily toward Vietnamese dishes and cocktails.
According to reporting from the Cincinnati Business Courier, the Lang Thang Group, which operates Quan Hapa, confirmed the July 26 closing date at the current spot and a September relaunch in the bigger unit. The rebrand is intended to give the team more room to stretch out both the kitchen and bar programs.
From its current home at 1331 Vine St, Quan Hapa’s menu has leaned on staples like ramen, garlic noodles and okonomiyaki. Per Quan Hapa, the restaurant plays up an open‑garage patio vibe and a full cocktail program that has helped it draw a steady late‑night crowd. Local coverage has regularly cast the spot as a fixture in OTR’s evolving dining scene, as CityBeat noted.
New Home: Former Taste of Belgium Space
The Lang Thang Group plans to move Quan Hapa into the former Taste of Belgium space at 1135 Vine St, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier. The Taste of Belgium location shut down in September 2025 amid declining downtown traffic and shifting patterns, the Journal-News reported. Filling established OTR storefronts like 1135 Vine has become a familiar rhythm as neighborhood restaurants churn and concepts evolve.
Group Expansion and What to Expect
The Lang Thang Group also runs Pho Lang Thang and recently partnered on the Hi‑Mark roadhouse, a collaboration covered by WCPO. That track record points toward a new Vietnamese concept that keeps things approachable and drink‑forward, with neighborhood‑friendly dishes rather than a fine‑dining vibe.
Quan Hapa’s last day of service at 1331 Vine St will be July 26, with the group targeting a September reopening in the new space at 1135 Vine. For hours, reservations, and updates on the relaunch, visit Quan Hapa.
