Rooted Juicery is closing its longtime Oakley storefront, but the Cincinnati plant-based favorite is not exactly squeezing the last drop from town. The company is preparing to open its newest location at Medpace Eatery, giving its next chapter a food-hall setting.
The Oakley location will permanently close as Rooted prepares for the new Medpace Eatery outpost, which was formerly known as Element Eatery, WLWT reported yesterday. The change shifts Rooted from a standalone neighborhood storefront into one of the vendors operating inside a larger Madisonville dining destination.
Rooted described the Oakley goodbye as “bittersweet,” while signaling that the company is looking ahead to what comes next, according to WLWT. The announcement did not frame the closure as a departure from Cincinnati, but as part of a reshuffling of the brand’s local footprint.
Rooted Has Been Part Of Cincinnati’s Plant-Based Scene Since 2015
Founded by Megan Tysoe in 2015, Rooted describes itself as a Cincinnati plant-based juicery and kitchen offering cold-pressed juice, prepared food, snacks, teas and other retail products. The company’s menu includes smoothies, bowls, sandwiches, wraps, salads and vegan takes on familiar comfort foods, according to the Rooted website.
The Oakley shop has been a recognizable stop for local juice fans for years. In 2019, Hoodline ranked Rooted as Cincinnati’s top juice and smoothie spot, noting its presence in Oakley and its vegan and vegetarian menu.
The planned destination is built for a broader mix of diners. The existing Element Eatery site describes the venue at Medpace as a multi-vendor food hall with open seating, carryout and a variety of restaurant concepts, giving Rooted a chance to serve its plant-based menu alongside other local food operators.
Rooted’s current locations page still lists the Oakley shop, suggesting the online information has not yet caught up with yesterday's announcement. For customers who have made the Madison Road stop part of their routine, the juice run is changing addresses—but the brand’s Cincinnati story is still being poured.
