
A 41-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the cheek inside a Roseland home early Sunday after police responded to a call, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered, and detectives have opened a death investigation.
According to Chicago Sun-Times, officers responded at about 12:20 a.m. to the 500 block of East 107th Street and found the 41-year-old inside the residence. The outlet reports that a weapon was recovered at the scene and that Area Two detectives are conducting a death investigation pending autopsy results. Chicago Sun-Times did not identify the victim or provide further details.
Recent Incidents in Roseland
Roseland has seen several recent tragedies that have kept Area Two detectives busy. In May, a 2-year-old died in an accidental shooting inside a home in the 900 block of East 104th Street, according to FOX32 Chicago. And in late June, a 57-year-old CTA worker was found shot near a maintenance yard on the 9900 block of South State Street, per ABC7 Chicago.

No arrests have been reported, and police said they will await autopsy results before releasing additional information, Chicago Sun-Times reports. The outlet said there were no immediate updates on the victim's identity.
