Triple-Digit Heat Arrives For The Weekend
Wednesday will reach about 98 degrees, followed by 97 on Thursday and 100 on Friday. The heat peaks at 101 Saturday and 102 Sunday before easing only slightly to 100 Monday and 101 Tuesday.
Clear Nights Bring Limited Relief
Overnight lows will stay in the low to mid-60s, ranging from about 63 to 66 degrees through the weekend. Winds should remain generally light from the south to southwest, while rain chances remain at zero and skies stay clear, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento.
Heat And Fire Concerns Rise Friday
The weather service expects widespread Moderate HeatRisk across the Valley and foothills from Thursday through Monday. Elevated fire-weather conditions are also expected Friday through Sunday in the northern Sacramento Valley and Sierra foothills as heat combines with low humidity and dry vegetation.
Plan Outdoor Time Early
Residents should schedule strenuous outdoor work and exercise for the morning or evening, drink plenty of water, and avoid leaving children or pets in parked vehicles. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for the Sacramento forecast area, but the extended heat makes regular breaks and shade especially important.
